The University of Utah Counseling Center offers brief individual, couples, and group counseling, psychiatric medication services, and psychological assessment for eligible U students. *Individual counseling is generally limited to no more than 12 sessions per year.

*All counseling services require an evaluation session (free) and are confidential. Clinical services are available to matriculated (degree-seeking) University of Utah undergraduate students enrolled for at least six credit hours and graduate students enrolled for at least three credit hours. Students under 18 years of age may need parental consent for services.

University interim measures and investigations

The Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action/Title IX upholds university nondiscrimination policies and processes complaints of sexual misconduct.

Interim measures
Regardless of whether a complaint is filed, measures may be taken to ensure safety, including housing adjustments, academic adjustments, and no-contact directives.
Consultation
Provides consultation regarding issues of possible discrimination, sexual misconduct, harassment, or retaliation.
Investigations
If a complaint is filed, an investigation will be conducted and may include interviews, evidentiary reviews, and/or a hearing. The office will issue a report of its findings to the appropriate administrator who will determine the extent of disciplinary action.
Trainings
Trainings are available for any university affiliates and cover a variety of topics, including sexual violence and discrimination.

Resident advisors and desk assistants are available 24/7 and are trained to address incidents of sexual misconduct, harassment, and other crises. The Office of the Dean of Students is dedicated to being a resource to students through support, advocacy, involvement, and accountability. The office coordinates the student conduct administration processes, provides support for students facing challenges to their academic success and assists with the interpretation of university policy and regulations. Staff are ready to assist students, staff, faculty, family members, and community members with student-related questions, issues, and concerns.

The office also serves as a referral resource to other areas within the university and/or the Salt Lake community.

The Rape Recovery Center offers support to survivors of sexual violence through advocacy, crisis intervention, therapy and community education.
